GTC Handicap Rules

Rule 1
For every point scored over 36, shots will be deducted as follows:

Handicap 0 to 5.4   cut 0.1
Handicap 5.5 to 12.4   cut 0.2
Handicap 12.5 to 20.4   cut 0.3
Handicap 20.5 to 28.4     cut 0.4  
Handicap 28.5 to 36   cut 0.5
Handicap 37 and over   cut 0.6

 

Rule 2
Overall winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) of any league or series will also receive a cut at the end of the league as follows irrespective of the handicap

1st place – cut 1.0
2nd place – cut 0.7
3rd place – cut 0.5 

 

Rule 3 – Shots Back
Any player scoring less than 36 points at any event will receive shots back as follows, irrespective of their handicap

Less than 33 points – 0.1 shots back
Less than 28 points – 0.2 shots back
Less than 20 points – 0.3 shots back
Less than 16 points – 0.4 shots back

Some players have a club or WHS or a Spanish Golf Federation handicap. At Golf The Costa we operate our own society handicap system based on the old CONGU system. Sometime this results in a players having a lower handicap than their club or Federation handicap. In other instances the club or Federation handicap is lower.

Our rule is that players MUST play off their Golf the Costa handicap.

Rule 4 – General Play Adjustment
In addition to any cuts, the “General Play Adjustment” will be applied in accordance with Clause 23.7 of the CONGU Unified Handicapping System. This rule can be viewed on this web page:
